Full Scratch Figure – Making the head

It’s been a while since I blogged about making my full scratch figure, but lately I finally got back to working on it. Recently I have been working on sculpting the face of the figure. It took me two attempts. The first try, I had trouble as I kept ruining the shape of the head when trying to do the details on the face, so it ended in disaster. The second attempt however, I decided to only work on the face and worry about the back of the head later on, so I concentrated on the face only.

After failing on my first attempt, I learnt how to draw faces in profile at Pen Cafe, and this gave me a reference on the anatomy of the head and face. It really came in useful and I ended up with a fairly decent face.

I currently don’t know how to put in the mouth or the eyes, but I’m happy that I’ve gotten the basic shape right. Now I have to see if I made the head large enough for the body. I think at the moment it is still a little too small for the body that I was sculpting. I plan to increase the size of the head and add the mouth and eyes next.

Has there been any more development on these, since it’s been two years since you posted anything under ‘full scratch’? Argh, I have to reiterate just how impressive this blog is.

Hmm, not on the full scratched figures.. but I’m starting to get back into making some garage kit figures lately.
